Interviewing for a new role and using AI?

Lately, several of my clients, executives and managers asked me to help them prepare for interviews, better position themselves for the companies they’re targeting, and feel more confident when meeting executive peers or CEOs.
A few also mentioned using AI tools to simulate and train for interviews...so I tried one myself to see how it works:)

Here’s what I found:
* AI asked clear and focused questions. It felt realistic.
* It provided valuable feedback and pointed out areas for improvement.
* It offered an objective assessment, free of human bias.

And that third point? It’s exactly where my clients noticed the difference.
Interviewers, myself included, after hundreds of interviews, are human.
We bring bias, even subtly. A tone, a pause, a glance, these can all influence the interaction.
Candidates also bring their own bias into the room. Meeting someone can trigger insecurity, doubt, or imposter syndrome. That shift can change the entire course of the interview.

Because AI isn’t human, some people feel more comfortable with it.
Others don’t, and that discomfort is a bias in itself.

AI can be a powerful tool. But it doesn’t replace the human experience or the benefit of preparing with someone who understands it deeply.
